Laura is such a sweet, kind soul and I’m so happy I was able to photograph her while the sunflowers were blooming! I found a small patch of them growing on a little farm in Granite Bay, and asked the owner for permission to shoot there the following day. He was super friendly and walked me around the field to show me the best spot for pictures, so Laura and I made plans to go there the following afternoon along with another photographer friend and her client. I don’t know what happened but when we got there the gates were locked and there was no one there, despite us agreeing on a time the day before. I guess we could’ve gone to a different location, but we didn’t want to miss out on the sunflowers! So some of us climbed over the fence and others dragged ourselves underneath the gate while cars drove by wondering what in the world we were doing. We were even given the stinkeye by one of the neighbors, but it all worked out in the end! Next year, I think I’ll plant my own sunflower patch!
